Act V Scene 1 –

Oct: Dolabella go tell Antony to surrender at once.

Dola: Ok sir.

Enter Decretas

Oct: Who are you?

Decr: I am Decretas a servant of Mark Antony. I’ve come to tell you that he has died, he stabbed himself. This is his sword. With Antonys death you win and now I kneel before you.

Oct: Well Antony was a great man. I see that now. We will mourn him.

Act V Scene II
Cleo, Charmian, Proculeius

Proculeius: Caesar would like to know your terms for surrender.
Cleo: I want my son to be able to rule Egypt
Pro:Octavius will let that happen, he is a generous, kind man.
Cleo: Good.
Guards sieze cleopatra
Pro: Guard her till Caesar comes.
Cleo draws daggar
Cleo: I would rather be dragged in the Nile's mud and die in Egypt than be a spectacle in Rome.
Enter Dolabella
Cleo: What is Caesar planning to do with me?
Dol:I don't really want to tell you
Cleo: He's going to lead me through rome as pow isn't he?
Dol: I admit it, that's probably what he wants to do.
Enter octavius
oct:
Which one is cleopatra?
Cleo kneels
Oct: No hard feelings. Don't kneel.
Cleo: I'm just a woman!
Oct: If you accept our terms, you will be fine.
Cleo: Take all of my riches and land.
Oct: I dont need money, I'm not a merchant.
exit oct
dol: Caesar is not planning to spare you.
exit dol
Cleo: Maids, we are going to be like puppets in a puppet show in Rome, laughed at by the scum of plebeians like a whore.
Get me my best clothes, i'm going to meet Antony.
enter clown
Clown: here are your snakes and figs. enjoy.
Cleo: Antony here I come!
applies asp to herself.

Guard enters

enter dolabella,
dol : what's happening?
guard: everyone is dead.
dol: caesar, the thing you tried to prevent has happened.
oct: how did they die? where is the blood?
dol: poisoned figs I think
oh here is snake on her
guard: that's an asp, a poisonous snake!
oct: let's give her a proper funeral and bury her next to Antony.
